Hi, I'm Jess and I'm The Steppy.

Thank you for stopping by. I've now been on this stepmom journey for 8 years and wanted to share my story. When I first met Jason, and things started getting serious, I started searching for resources to help me with questions and challenges I was having in trying to understand my role as a step parent, and couldn't find anything. Things are starting to change, and there are more resources, and want this site (and our upcoming podcast) to be a resource for others that are also on this journey. THIS is how The Steppy idea came about.

Why The Steppy? Personally, I hate the term "stepmom", there has always been such negative connotations with stepmom so I was on the search for an alternative term. I happen to be out to dinner with friends and she shared that her step kids called her their Steppy, and fell in love with it so that is how this all came to be. 

I don't claim to be a stepmom (or parenting) expert. I'm just sharing my journey with you as well as some of the resources I've found that have helped me, and continue to help me, along the way.

I am a Steppy, and although this does not define me, it is a big part of my life. I am a banker by day and love to cook, travel, read, and practice yoga. So, will incorporate these other areas of my life into the blog as well.

Recently, I've recruited a very close friend, and fellow Steppy, Tara, to join me in this journey of sharing our stories and feel that she'll add another perspective to the blog. We both have girls, met our husbands on dating sites, love wine, travel and yoga, and are passionate about sharing our stories with this ever growing community. I look forward to working together to enchance what we can offer to you, and each other, as we continue on this journey together, because, as we all know it truly takes a village.
